The Congress party has nominated former BJP leader Jayanta Bora as its candidate for the Behali by-election in Assam, igniting conflict within the opposition alliance, Asom Sonmilito Morcha (ASOM). This decision disregards a prior agreement designating the seat to the CPI(ML). In response to the internal strife, Assam Congress chief Bhupen Borah resigned from ASOM. The by-elections are scheduled for November 13 across five constituencies.
