Grizzly No. 399, a beloved 28-year-old female grizzly bear in Grand Teton National Park, was killed by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 26/89. Known as the oldest reproducing female grizzly in the Yellowstone ecosystem, she attracted many visitors and photographers. At the time of the collision, she was with a yearling cub, whose whereabouts remain unknown. The driver was unharmed. Her death has saddened the community and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
