31-year-old Brazilian Geovane Ferrnandes sentenced to 3.5 years for smuggling €489,790 worth of cocaine into Ireland.

Geovane Ferrnandes, a 31-year-old Brazilian national, has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for trying to smuggle 6.7 kg of cocaine valued at €489,790 into Ireland. He was apprehended at Dublin Airport and pleaded guilty to drug possession for sale or supply. Ferrnandes accepted the smuggling offer, reportedly to support his daughter, who has severe asthma. He has no prior convictions and expressed remorse during the court proceedings.
