Niue, a Pacific island nation with approximately 1,500 residents, recently marked its 50th anniversary of self-governance but was excluded from the Commonwealth leaders meeting in Samoa. Prime Minister Dalton Tagelagi expressed disappointment and sought membership in the Commonwealth, emphasizing Niue's desire for representation. The island, in free association with New Zealand, is also concerned about regional security following China's missile tests.
