Researchers develop efficient, waste-minimizing lithium extraction technology, EALNF, addressing potential shortages by 2025.

Researchers from Monash University and the University of Queensland have created a new lithium extraction technology called EALNF. This method enables efficient extraction from extreme environments, recovering 90% of lithium and reducing extraction time from years to weeks. It also extracts magnesium, minimizing waste and producing freshwater. This innovation aims to address potential lithium shortages by 2025, supporting the global transition to clean energy.
