On October 23, 2024, Pakistan's Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb urged the IMF to include social protection measures in its lending frameworks to aid vulnerable populations. During a meeting with financial leaders from the MENAP region, he also called for enhanced climate resilience financing and expanded debt relief mechanisms. Aurangzeb welcomed the IMF's focus on challenges like climate risks and public debt in its review of the Low-Income Countries Debt Sustainability Framework.
