Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston has announced a reduction in the harmonized sales tax (HST) from 15% to 14%, effective April 1, 2025. This is the first change to the province's sales tax in 14 years. The new rate positions Nova Scotia below neighboring provinces like New Brunswick and P.E.I., both at 15%, and Ontario, at 13%. Other provinces have varying additional provincial sales taxes ranging from 6% to nearly 10%.
