The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting raids in Chennai and three other cities targeting former AIADMK minister R. Vaithiyalingam as part of a money laundering investigation. This probe, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), is linked to alleged quid pro quo during his tenure as Tamil Nadu's housing development minister, involving questionable loans to companies associated with him.
