12-week study in JCEM finds low-carb diet improves blood sugar control, reduces medication needs for type 2 diabetes patients, especially in Black adults.
A study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism indicates that a low-carbohydrate diet may improve blood sugar control and reduce medication needs for adults with type 2 diabetes. In a 12-week trial involving 57 participants, those on a low-carb diet showed significant enhancements in beta-cell function compared to those on a high-carb diet, with notable improvements among Black participants. Further research is needed to explore the potential for remission.
