In September 2024, New Zealand's goods exports rose by $246 million (5.2%) to $5 billion, driven by significant increases in kiwifruit (up $212 million) and apple exports (up $7.3 million). However, the trade balance showed a deficit of $2.1 billion. While imports of aircraft and machinery increased, vehicle imports declined by 41%. Exports to the US and EU grew, but those to China, Japan, and Australia fell.
