NextStar Energy begins battery module production in Canada, targeting 49.5 GWh capacity and 2,500 jobs.

NextStar Energy, a partnership between Stellantis and LG Energy Solution, has started battery module production at its Windsor, Ontario plant, the first of its kind in Canada. The facility aims for an annual capacity of 49.5 gigawatt-hours to power 450,000 electric vehicles. The final phase, cell manufacturing, is expected to begin in 2025. Once fully operational, the plant will create around 2,500 jobs, with 450 already filled, and seeks up to $15 billion in government funding.
