A 65-year-old woman was killed in Hegewisch, Chicago, after being struck by a car while crossing South Avenue O around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday. The 23-year-old male driver, who was cited for distracted driving, hit her. She was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center but later died from her injuries. The Chicago Police Department's Major Accidents Unit is investigating the incident.
