Malaysia's MITI supports Perodua in developing a sub-RM100k EV by end-2025, with an Australian partner.

Malaysia's Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) is supporting local automaker Perodua in developing the country's first electric vehicle (EV) priced under RM100,000, with a target completion date of end-2025. MITI Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz expressed confidence in achieving this goal, as Perodua collaborates with an Australian partner. In 2023, Malaysia has already registered nearly 16,000 new passenger battery EVs.
