70% of high-risk men and 54% of women with osteoporosis not receiving proper treatment, according to a University of Galway study.

A University of Galway study reveals a significant treatment gap in osteoporosis care, with 70% of men and 54% of women at high risk of fractures not receiving proper treatment. Analyzing over 5,000 patients, researchers recommend a national osteoporosis program to improve care and reduce unnecessary prescriptions, as many are mistakenly treated with calcium and vitamin D. The estimated gap for patients needing treatment is around 60-70%. This study was released on World Osteoporosis Day.
