Afghanistan plans to boost electricity access to 1,000 MW via domestic production, imports, and various energy projects.

Afghanistan's acting Energy and Water Minister, Abdul Latif Mansoor, reported that the country currently has access to 900 MW of electricity and aims to increase this to 1,000 MW. With domestic production at 300 MW, Afghanistan relies on imports of 620 MW from neighboring countries. To address ongoing power shortages, especially in Kabul, the government is investing in solar, gas, and water dam projects. A recent solar initiative will benefit thousands of households.
