30-year-old Vernon Hills woman died after being hit by vehicle on South Milwaukee Avenue.

A 30-year-old Vernon Hills woman was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing South Milwaukee Avenue around 10:43 p.m. on Friday. Despite life-saving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained and is cooperating with authorities; impairment is not suspected. The incident is under investigation by the Vernon Hills Police and the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County. Victim identification is pending family notification.
