HS2 introduces test designs for comfortable standard class train seats with ample legroom, fold-down table, sockets, and a privacy recline mechanism, based on user feedback.

HS2, the UK's high-speed rail project, has introduced test designs for new train seats aimed at providing exceptional comfort. Standard class seats will feature an impressive 87cm of legroom and include airline-style amenities such as a fold-down table, USB-C and three-pin sockets, and a sliding mechanism for reclining without disturbing others. The design process involved feedback from over 100 users, with the final design expected by early 2026.
