On Saturday morning, Duke Energy conducted a controlled implosion of the boiler house at the Old Gallagher Station in New Albany at 9 a.m. The demolition produced loud noises and tremors felt in nearby neighborhoods, including west Louisville and St. Matthews. The boiler house, part of a plant retired in June 2021, will be dismantled, while the taller chimneys will be taken down over the coming months. The event was confirmed by local authorities.
