The U.S. DOE awards $20M to Consumers Energy for electric grid enhancements with electric vehicles.

The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded Consumers Energy $20 million to enhance Michigan's electric grid by integrating electric vehicles (EVs). Consumers Energy will match this funding, totaling $40 million, to install AI-powered modules on 18,000 meters used by EV owners. This initiative aims to provide real-time data to understand EV impacts on the grid, especially in economically disadvantaged areas, and is part of the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships program.
