Researchers Jed Brubaker from CU Boulder and Google’s Meredith Morris are examining the ethics of using AI to facilitate communication with deceased loved ones through "generative ghosts." Funded by a $75,000 grant from Google, they aim to create chatbots that replicate the deceased’s personality using personal data.
