The Toy Industries of Europe (TIE) reports that 80% of toys sold by third-party sellers on online marketplaces like Amazon and Shein do not comply with EU safety standards. Many of these unsafe toys, which may contain toxic materials or choking hazards, are offered by non-EU traders. TIE urges EU leaders to hold online platforms accountable for product safety to close existing legal loopholes that allow non-compliance.
