45 students graduate from Tipu Ake carving program, empowering Māori youth and fostering cultural connection.

The Tipu Ake carving program, a collaboration between Te Kōhao Health and Hillcrest Normal School, is celebrating its largest graduation yet with 45 students. Launched in 2022 to empower Māori youth, the initiative now includes six local schools and focuses on cultural connection through carving. The program has positively influenced students' attendance, social skills, and academic success, fostering a deeper understanding of their identity and relationships.
