Pennsylvania court invalidates convicted murderer's appeal due to jail escape, adding 15-30 years.

A Pennsylvania court has ruled that Danilo Cavalcante, convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend, forfeited his right to appeal his life sentence due to his escape from jail last year. Cavalcante's attorneys filed a motion while he was a fugitive, but the court deemed it invalid under state law. His subsequent appeal was filed eight days late. In August, he pleaded guilty to escape and received an additional 15 to 30 years on top of his life sentence without parole.
