Meta-analysis in Neurology finds tenecteplase improves excellent recovery and reduced disability for ischemic stroke patients more than alteplase.

A meta-analysis in Neurology reveals that the clot-busting drug tenecteplase may lead to slightly better outcomes than alteplase for ischemic stroke patients. Specifically, tenecteplase is associated with a 5% higher chance of excellent recovery and a 10% greater likelihood of reduced disability three months post-stroke. Both drugs have similar effects on overall recovery, but tenecteplase is not yet FDA-approved for use in the U.S.
