Indian government revises enemy property disposal guidelines, offering properties to occupants before tenders/auctions.
The Indian government has revised guidelines for disposing of enemy properties, which are assets left by individuals who became citizens of Pakistan and China between 1947 and 1962. For properties valued under Rs 1 crore in rural areas and Rs 5 crore in urban areas, the custodian must first offer the property to the occupant. If declined, disposal will proceed via tenders or public auctions. Approximately 12,611 enemy properties are managed, valued at over Rs 1 lakh crore.
