Japanese entertainment company Toho has acquired North American animation firm GKIDS, enhancing its presence in the U.S. market. GKIDS, known for distributing acclaimed films like "Song of the Sea" and "Wolfwalkers," has also managed Studio Ghibli's catalog. Toho aims to leverage this acquisition to prioritize animation and support intellectual property development globally. GKIDS founders Eric Beckman and Dave Jesteadt will continue in their leadership roles.
