Minnesota Governor designates October 15th as Veteran Homelessness Prevention and Awareness Day; Hennepin County functionally ends veteran homelessness.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has designated October 15th as Veteran Homelessness Prevention and Awareness Day. This coincides with Hennepin County becoming the ninth region to "functionally end" veteran homelessness, following efforts by the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs since 2015. Only Ramsey County remains to achieve this goal. If successful, Minnesota will join Connecticut, Delaware, and Virginia in eradicating veteran homelessness. Additionally, three new veterans homes have opened, providing care for nearly 200 veterans.
