A 63-year-old man aboard the Grand Princess cruise ship was medevaced by the U.S. Coast Guard 170 miles off Los Angeles due to severe abdominal pain. The Coast Guard coordinated the rescue over 36 hours as the ship approached the coast. This operation marked the first rescue for the newly established Coast Guard Air Station Ventura. The man was successfully transported to Torrance Memorial Medical Center for treatment, with no impact on the ship's schedule.
