South Africa's National Lotteries Commission (NLC) allocated R1.5 million (US$87,000) of public funds for legal action against former Minister Ebrahim Patel, who aimed to combat corruption within the NLC. This expenditure was disclosed by current Minister Parks Tau in response to inquiries from MP Toby Chance. Patel's efforts ultimately succeeded, resulting in a new NLC board and improved governance.
