South Africa's Revenue Service (SARS) plans to collaborate with the fuel industry to tackle a jet fuel shortage attributed to regulatory delays in licensing import storage facilities. SARS refuted claims of responsibility, stating that demand for aviation kerosene is met through licensed manufacturers and imports. Since 2022, some coastal refineries have ceased production, relying on imports. In April 2024, temporary licenses were granted for storage of imported kerosene.
