Disbarred attorney Alex Murdaugh has been removed from a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from a 2019 boat crash that killed Mallory Beach. His insurer, Progressive, will pay $500,000 to Beach's family, concluding the civil case. Murdaugh's son, Paul, was charged in the incident, but charges were dropped after both he and his mother were murdered in 2021. A separate $15 million settlement from Parker's Corporation was also reached. Murdaugh is serving a life sentence for the murders.
