On October 4, Yvonne Kinane-Wells safely landed a twin-engine Beechcraft King Air 90 in Bakersfield, California, after her husband, 78-year-old pilot Eliot Alper, suffered a medical emergency during their flight from Henderson, Nevada, to Monterey, California. With assistance from air traffic controllers, she managed the emergency landing. Unfortunately, Alper later died at the hospital, but no other injuries occurred.
