Yapi Merkezi Holdings AS of Turkey has secured a contract to build a 272-kilometer railway line in Uganda, connecting Kampala to the Kenyan border. This project, part of Uganda's Standard Gauge Railway initiative, aims to enhance regional trade and reduce transport costs, particularly after China withdrew its financial support. Uganda plans to finance the line through its resources and external loans, expecting completion in 48 months.
