LGBT veterans mistreated under the "gay ban" before its repeal in 2000 are concerned that Labour may not uphold its promises to debate reparations and reassess the £50 million cap on compensation. The charity Fighting With Pride argues that the proposed average payment of £12,500 is inadequate and that LGBT veterans deserve the same recognition and support as other mistreatment victims. Approximately 2,500 veterans are expected to apply for compensation.
