23-year-old St. Louis carjacking suspect escaped handcuffs, stole police vehicle, and crashed.
A 23-year-old suspect involved in a St. Louis carjacking escaped from police custody while handcuffed in a cruiser, stole the vehicle, and crashed it into a tree. Initially arrested after a high-speed chase involving a stolen Chevrolet pickup, the suspect managed to slip out of the handcuffs. He was later recaptured, hospitalized, and charged with car theft and escape. Police recovered two guns believed to have been discarded by the suspect.
