Uganda's £3.8bn East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project, initially slated for late 2025, faces environmental opposition and has been delayed to late 2026.

Uganda is advancing its oil sector through the £3.8 billion East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), a 1,443km project linking its oil fields to Tanzania's Port of Tanga. Despite its potential as the longest electrically heated crude oil pipeline, it faces opposition from environmental groups over risks to communities and climate. Originally set for late 2025, production has been delayed to late 2026, with further postponements possible.
