Shanxi, a coal-rich province in North China, recorded a coal-bed methane output of 9.1 billion cubic meters in the first eight months of 2021, reflecting a 23.1% year-on-year increase. The province has developed two major production bases, leading national efforts in coal-bed methane extraction, which helps reduce mine explosion risks and environmental pollution. Shanxi's reserves are over 924 billion cubic meters, with an expected output of 15 billion cubic meters for the year.
