India imposes import restrictions on pocket lighter parts from China to boost domestic manufacturing.
The Indian government has implemented immediate import restrictions on parts for pocket lighters, including gas-fuelled types, to reduce reliance on Chinese imports and promote domestic manufacturing. This follows previous bans on low-cost lighters and the introduction of quality standards for flame-producing lighters. In the fiscal year, lighter parts imports amounted to $3.8 million. These actions are part of India's strategy to decrease imports from China amid a growing trade deficit.
