Former Xizang advisor Jiang Jie convicted of bribery, sentenced to death with reprieve for accepting $31.8M in bribes.
Jiang Jie, a former senior political advisor in China's Xizang Autonomous Region, has been convicted of bribery and sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve by the Tianjin First Intermediate People's Court. He accepted over 225 million yuan (about $31.8 million) in bribes for facilitating administrative approvals and contracts. His sentence was mitigated due to his confession, remorse, and the recovery of most of the illicit gains.
