5,000 critically endangered Chinese sturgeon fry bred through artificial insemination in Shanghai.

Researchers at the Shanghai Aquatic Wildlife Conservation and Research Center have achieved a milestone by breeding nearly 5,000 fry of the critically endangered Chinese sturgeon through artificial insemination. This success is part of a program initiated in 2021, aimed at reviving the species, which has not reproduced in the wild for decades. The center plans to refine techniques for future large-scale breeding efforts to aid in conservation.
