1 Black head coach remains in WNBA amid pledge to diversify coaching staffs.

The WNBA currently has just one Black head coach, Noelle Quinn, after recent dismissals reduced the number from half of the league's coaches at the end of the 2022 season. Commissioner Cathy Engelbert has reiterated the league's commitment to diversity in hiring, emphasizing the need for a diverse candidate pool for the three open coaching positions. Several qualified Black assistant coaches, including Briann January, Kristi Toliver, and LaToya Sanders, are potential candidates.
