Hyundai starts electric SUV production in Georgia, fulfilling IRA-influenced expedited plans.

Hyundai has started producing electric SUVs at its $7.6 billion plant in Bryan County, Georgia, just two years after breaking ground. The facility aims to create 300,000 vehicles annually and employ 8,500 workers when fully operational. The first vehicles are 2025 models of the Ioniq 5, expected in U.S. dealerships by year-end. The expedited production is influenced by the Inflation Reduction Act, which offers tax credits for North American-made EVs.
