Amber Guyger denied parole after serving 5 years for 2018 murder of Botham Jean in Dallas.

Amber Guyger, a former Dallas police officer, has been denied parole after serving five years of her 10-year sentence for murdering Botham Jean in 2018. Guyger mistakenly entered Jean's apartment, believing it was her own, and shot him. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles rejected her parole request following protests from Jean's family, the Dallas County district attorney, and over 6,300 petition signers. Guyger will be eligible for parole again in 2026.
