Tennessee Department of Transportation reopens a section of Interstate 26 for local traffic after Hurricane Helene.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will reopen a section of Interstate 26 for local traffic on Thursday, from the Tennessee/North Carolina line to Exit 40. This initiative aims to restore connectivity for communities affected by Hurricane Helene. The reopening is restricted to local motorists, with law enforcement on-site to enforce bans on commercial vehicles and through traffic. TDOT plans to restore one lane in each direction within 30 to 45 days.
