Shaun Johnson is returning to the New Zealand Kiwis for the Pacific Championships after a five-year hiatus, stepping in for Jahrome Hughes, who is sidelined due to injury. Initially unavailable, Johnson was called by new head coach Stacey Jones to support the team. His first match back will be against Australia on October 27 in Christchurch, where he last played in 2019. Johnson's return comes after just six weeks of retirement from the NRL.
