Nigerian fact-finding committee appointed to investigate Segilola Resources dispute with Osun State over tax violations.

The Nigerian government has appointed a fact-finding committee to investigate a dispute between Osun State and Segilola Resources Operating Limited, a gold mining company. Following the state government's closure of the company's operations over alleged tax violations, the committee will analyze the root causes of the conflict, review contracts, and evaluate the company's community impact. The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, emphasized that mining is federally regulated and cannot be halted by state authorities. The panel is expected to report within seven days.
