In 2024, 14 million tonnes of electronic waste (e-waste) were improperly disposed of globally, according to WEEE Ireland. CEO Leo Donovan urged residents to rethink e-waste, highlighting its valuable resources. In 2022, households generated an average of 29 kg of e-waste, but recycling rates remain low. Proper recycling could significantly reduce CO2 emissions and conserve materials. WEEE Ireland encourages the public to recycle unused electronics at designated centers and events.
