HMP Manchester deemed most violent men's prison in England and Wales with high drug use and rodent infestation.

A recent inspection has deemed HMP Manchester, formerly Strangeways, the most violent men's prison in England and Wales, with alarming levels of drugs, violence, and a rodent infestation. Nearly 40% of inmates tested positive for drugs in the past year, and the facility has seen six self-inflicted deaths and three suspected drug-related deaths. An action plan for urgent improvements is anticipated from the Ministry of Justice.
