The Abuja Court of Appeal upheld the nullification of Rivers State's N800bn 2024 budget, deeming its passage unconstitutional.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld a Federal High Court ruling that nullified Rivers State's N800 billion 2024 budget, deeming its passage unconstitutional as it was approved by only a fraction of the Assembly. Governor Siminalayi Fubara's appeal was dismissed as lacking merit, following his withdrawal of legal challenges. The court ordered Fubara to re-present the budget to the legally recognized Assembly under Speaker Martin Amaewhule and imposed a cost of N500,000 for each of the 13 respondents.
