Quebec premier defends $300m construction worker training program with low employment rate and certification.

Quebec's $300 million fast-track program to train 4,000-5,000 construction workers has faced significant criticism, with only 1,251 graduates currently employed in the field. Launched in January, the program pays students $750 per week for accelerated training, but lacks a work requirement post-graduation. Less than half of the 2,551 graduates are certified to work, leading critics to label it a poorly designed initiative. Premier Legault defends the program, asserting many will eventually find employment.
